Our content and services are suitable for a wide audience. Whether you are a casual history enthusiast, a dedicated military scholar, a history-loving family or cultural tourist looking for something new, we tailor each experience to bring your interests to life with accuracy, depth and respect for the past.

No prior historical knowledge is required.

Our passengers’ comfort and safety are at the top of our priorities. We therefore strive to use luxury minivans and minibuses on our tours with licensed professional drivers, comfortable seating, seat belts, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and charging ports.

For your comfort, vehicles on each tour are selected based on group size.

Yes. During our ancient battlefield tours, guests have the opportunity to handle high-quality replicas of ancient Greek weapons and equipment. This hands-on experience helps participants better understand the weight, balance and practical use of arms such as swords, shields and helmets.

For safety and preservation reasons, only replicas are used and all handling is supervised by our staff.

Yes. During each tour every customer is given access to an electronic folder with guidance, maps and contextual information to help visitors follow and understand better the subject of the tour.

Most battlefield locations involve outdoor walking over uneven terrain, sometimes on slopes or hills. While no extreme fitness is required, participants should be comfortable with long-distance travel, light hiking and standing for extended periods.

In the case of tours visiting the Spartan stronghold on Sphacteria island, the hike uphill is demanding and through rough ground and requires a certain level of fitness.

If you have any concern, please contact us at the time of booking or at any time before the tour so that we may advise you regarding your comfort and safety.

Due to the outdoor nature of the tours, we recommend to participants to wear trekking or athletic shoes and have with them sun protection, a hat or umbrella and, depending on specific destination or season, a light jacket.

Yes. Even though each tour program is carefully timed to cover all content and locations, convenience stops are incorporated in the itinerary for restroom, refreshments and rest accordingly. In full day tours a stop is also made for lunch break.

The cost of meals is not included in the price unless stated otherwise in the tour description.

Bottled water is provided free of charge (two 0,5L bottles per customer).

Participation in a tour is permitted for persons over 10 years of age, provided that they are accompanied by an adult who has the care and responsibility for supervision.

You may pay for your selected tour by debit or credit card on our website’s online payment system at the time of your booking. You may also pay by bank transfer for tailor-made or other bookings after communication with our office.

For any program not involving hotel stay, you may cancel your reservation by written notice to the Company at least 72 hours before the scheduled date/time of the program. If you notify us accordingly, you are entitled to a full refund of the amount paid.

For cancellations notified less than 72 hours before the scheduled date/time, the amounts paid are non-refundable. In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to provide you with an alternative program on another date subject to availability.

For Special Tour programs involving hotel bookings, the above terms apply for cancellations notified to the Company up to one week prior to the scheduled date/time of the program.

If a participant is unable to attend, they may request a transfer of the reservation to another person or to another program subject to availability.

We make every effort to adhere to published programs. However, circumstances beyond our control may require us to cancel, reschedule or modify our programs such as in cases of extreme weather conditions, safety issues, strikes etc.

In case of cancellation by us, you will be offered either a full refund or, with your consent, an alternative date or tour of equivalent value.

In English and Greek. If you have any particular requirement please inform us at the time of booking so we can make arrangements for a translator (normally at extra cost).

Unfortunately no. We would not recommend our scheduled tours for people with mobility concerns as the majority of the sites visited have no accessibility facilities. However we are happy to plan and accommodate any particular requests under our Tailor-made Tours service.

We base our work on reputable ancient sources, modern scholarship, archaeological findings and expert consultation. While some interpretations may vary due to historical debate, accuracy and transparency are central to everything we present. Our tour leaders are always military experts with deep knowledge of the battles and battle sites visited.

Both. Our experiences are designed as educational and experiential historical walks, combining storytelling, analysis of primary sources and on-site discussion of historical events within the landscape where they occurred.

We collaborate with military academies and history departments of universities around the world for organising experiential field studies on particular themes or points in history. We can prepare tailor-made programs specific to your needs and requirements, combining classroom study with on-location battlefield surveys.

Our staff rides for military and ex-military personnel are designed to provide to the seasoned, military audience an exhilarating, three-dimensional lesson in leadership, strategy, tactics, campaign planning and decision making through experiential learning at a historical battlefield site.

Yes. Hellenic Battlefield Tours & Heritage A.E. is a fully licensed tour operator, authorized by the relevant Greek authorities with licence number MH.T.E. 0208Ε70000096900. The Company ensures compliance with national regulations and high standards of safety, professionalism and quality of service.

No. Our hosts are professional military experts, not licensed tourist guides. We offer thematic historical and military history experiences focused on battlefield landscapes, historical events and strategic interpretation.

We do not provide guided tours inside museums or enclosed monuments or organised archaeological sites or monuments or historical sites and cultural sites, as defined by Greek law and as specified by regulatory administrative acts.

In the event that our route passes through such designated places, services will be delivered in cooperation with a licensed tourist guide.
